Mass Ave Should Become an Outdoor Living Room

More joy. More fun. More Sass.

More Mass.

After the pandemic showed how successful a pedestrianized Mass Ave could be, many have called for making the popular street car-free. However, due to a long-term privatization of parking, the city is unable to do so without costly buyouts of existing stalls. What if blocks of Mass Ave incrementally “halved” their parking by turning from pull-in to parallel parking. This could create room for an “outdoor living room”. This solution allows an incremental approach to buying out the stalls while still permitting parking along the corridor.
