Instead of waiting for a single developer to shape entire neighborhoods, this model empowers everyday Chicagoans—through individual parcels or cooperative half-blocks—to build the city from the ground up. What is a "smart block"?
The Hyperlocal Parcel Model takes into account a rethinking of current Planned Unit Developments (PUDs). By studying granularity, laying infrastructure, breaking down megasites into parcels, then collecting into block units, and then selling to collectives, cities could develop large project sites into incremental, organic neighborhoods. >>>
